4. MotionBuilder Story Window Animation homework:
Due Date: Wednesday before class, March 13th 2013 Use any C3D motions from the second motion capture shoot. Retarget from Actor to Characterized character and plot to Control Rg.

Use the story window the add fbx motion clips to a character track. Match and blend these clips to create a seamless sequence.

Use Control Rig to animate a change in the motion using keyframing of effectors on animation layers.

3. MotionBuilder Augment Motion with Animation homework:
Due Date: Wednesday before class, March 6th 2013

  • Use any C3D motion.
  • Retarget from Actor to Characterized character and plot to Control Rg.
  • Use Control Rig to animate a change in the motion using keyframing of effectors on animation layers.
  • Edit the Base Layer keyframes if necessary.
  • Add another layer of keyframes that changes the arm motions significant. Let your creative juices flow.

2. MotionBuilder C3D to Actor Marker Set homework: Due Date: Wed, 27 Feb 2013

Use the results of your Vicon C3D homework to complete the 'Retargeting' process.

Homework submission to be a rendered animation, posted on youtube, of a character doing your dance captured in class.

  • Use one of the characters from the tutorials folder - a link to download this if you don't have it is coming.
  • create a path to the tutorials folder, drag in a character (these have all been previously characterized).
  • Retarget the motion from the actor to the character.
  • create a render - covered in the notes.
  • post the render on your youtube.

The full workflow as covered in the pdf notes is as follows.

  • import C3D motion to motion builder
  • align actor
  • create marker set
  • associate c3d opticals to marker set
  • activate markers. <-save the file
  • merge in a character fbx file
  • create a render
  • post the render on your youtube.
